We are currently seeking a Lead Welder/Fabricator with a proven track record of accomplishments to join our small group of highly skilled Professionals. Position Summary:

The Lead Welder/Fabricator must be skilled in custom fabrication, repairing, rebuilding and replacing worn or damaged parts of a wide variety of light and heavy metal structures or equipment and their related components. Work also includes training, instructing and guiding department personnel in proper equipment and structure repair, maintenance and weld inspection methods, techniques and procedures.

 The ideal candidate will be:

  • Able to pass and operate within AWS D 1.1 qualifications
  • Able to identify, weld and clad different types of steel.
  • Experienced in industrial metalworking processes (ex: Oxy/Acetylene cutting torch, plasma cutter, MIG welding, TIG welding, Aluminum welding, ironwork, bandsaws, shearing, etc.).
  • Strong in their organizational, leadership and communication skills.

Core Functions

  • Utilize fabricating tools such as MIG & TIG welders, torches, plasma cutters, grinders, clamps, and other tools.
  • Interpret engineered drawings
  • Recommend modifications and improvements when applicable and maintain best weld practices
  • Repair and fabricate various items and equipment using cutting, burning, and welding techniques and equipment
  • Work closely with the Welding team, Maintenance/Machine Build team, Engineering and other departments as needed
  • Repair weld tool steels utilizing proper heat treating oven settings

Leadership

  • Train, teach, and guide less experienced welders in a cohesive, mentoring team environment
  • Encourage and support employee improvement, growth, and job satisfaction
  • Encourage employee innovation and new ideas
  • Develop and follow best practices of the Welding department work instructions

Project Management

  • Create and maintain project schedules and order supplies
  • Direct and execute labor according to schedule for on time delivery of project
  • Work with Project/Engineering team to create reasonable time and material cost goals and review hours and costs weekly to ensure goals are being met
  • Assist with quoting projects as needed

Quality and Administrative Responsibility

  • Perform all documentation and process requirements to comply with ISO:9001 quality standards
  • Ensure training for each operation is completed, documented, and maintained
  • Oversee system compliance within the department

Key Performance Indicators

  • Scheduled projects and production operations completed on time and within budget
  • No delays or extra costs due to lack of supplies or inadequate planning ahead
  • Depth of knowledge and keeping current on safety regulations and welding techniques and technology
  • Continued Innovation seen in department
  • Visual inspection shows area kept clean, organized and assets preserved per maintenance instructions

Minimum Job Requirements

  • 10 Years of experience in welding, fabrication, machine building
  • Formal training preferred
  • Broad knowledge of metallurgy
  • Proven mechanical and mathematical skills
  • Demonstrated organizational and trouble-shooting skills
  • Adept at prioritizing and handling many tasks simultaneously
  • Ability to work well with all levels of Agritek personnel
  • Proven integrity and moral character
  • Physical and visual acuity at a level to effectively perform duties

Typical Schedule: 50 hours/week avg with some weekends as required by business needs

Pay: Starting rate $32+ per hour plus a generous bonus program, rate commensurate with proven experience
