Position Summary:

The Production Machining Leader oversees all operations needed to meet customer demand and drive continuous improvement for the Production Machining Department. They serve as a cross functional team leader, working closely with internal and external customers to facilitate operations and maintain the Department’s effectiveness.

 The ideal candidate will be:

  • Skilled in managing high volume, fast paced production
  • Proficient in CNC machines, programming, and machining operations
  • Strong in their organizational, leadership, department management and communication skills
  • Skilled in Metrology
  • Strong in their knowledge of ISO 9000 compliance

Core Functions

Production Management

  • Perform Machining operations, set ups, and troubleshooting
  • Be a strong presence on the shop floor, observe production, audit to standards, and provide “in the moment” support and training
  • Direct and review labor allocations on a daily basis for the best use of each employee’s work hours and productivity
  • Ensure all production parts meet the required standards
  • Develop and oversee employee efficiency and productivity
  • Order and manage selective outsourcing, materials, and supplies as needed
  • Follow best practices of the Machining work instructions

Leadership

  • Orient, train, teach and guide less experienced team members in a cohesive, mentoring team environment
  • Create a positive work environment that fosters respect and adherence to policy and procedures
  • Audit employee work to ensure operations, checks and documentation are done correctly
  • Encourage and support employee improvement, growth, and job satisfaction
  • Ensure Machining Department Processes and Procedures are followed
  • On-call availability for emergency situations

Quality and Administrative Responsibility

  • Perform all documentation and process requirements to comply with ISO:9001 quality standards
  • Review Inspection Logs daily for accuracy of documented data along with reaction to any change, issues, NCR’s or complaints recorded in the journal area
  • Control and document production parts
  • Ensure thorough and effective training for each operation is completed, documented, and maintained
  • Oversee system compliance within the department

Other

  • Look for Risk and Opportunity within the department along with Continuous Process Improvements
  • Create innovative solutions for time and cost savings in core function areas
  • Work time ratio is approximately 40% Admin and 60% shop/hands on

Key Performance Indicators

  • Profitability targets of Machining Department jobs are met
  • On time completion of scheduled projects and production operations
  • No delays or extra costs due to lack of supplies or inadequate planning ahead
  • Reduction of NCRs reported in department and no customer complaints related to department work
  • ISO QMS System is followed, job books are followed and completed properly
  • Depth of knowledge and keeping current on safety regulations and machining techniques and technology
  • Employees are acknowledged and celebrated for their achievements and poor performance is addressed
  • Department is maintained in a clean, safe, and orderly way along with adherence to all company, local, state and federal protocol and safety regulations
  • Effective employee training is current and documented

Minimum Job Requirements

  • 2-year Postsecondary education or documented equivalent knowledge level
  • 3 Years of relevant job experience
  • 2 Years of Leadership experience
  • Proficiency in CNC Programming
  • Solid understanding of Machining Processes and how to optimize fixturing and programming for high efficiency and quality
  • Essential leadership traits: confidentiality, integrity, effective communication, lead by example, critical thinking, and accountability
  • Experienced in managing production schedules and timelines
  • Demonstrated organizational and trouble-shooting skills
  • Adept at prioritizing and handling many tasks simultaneously
  • Ability to handle stress related to core functions
  • Physical and visual acuity at a level to effectively perform duties
  • Proven engineering, mechanical, mathematical and “numbers” skills, and manufacturing knowledge
  • Proven integrity and moral character
  • Ability to work well with all levels of Agritek personnel

Pay: Starting rate from $95,000 per year (including a generous quarterly bonus program), rate commensurate with proven experience.
