    Position Summary:

    The Lead Welder must be skilled in custom fabrication, repairing, rebuilding and replacing worn or damaged parts of a wide variety of light and heavy metal structures or equipment and their related components. Work also includes training, instructing and guiding department personnel in proper equipment and structure repair, maintenance and weld inspection methods, techniques and procedures.

     The ideal candidate will be:

    • Able to pass and operate within AWS D 1.1 Qualifications
    • Well versed in various welding techniques and knowledge of metallurgy to produce quality work in an efficient and timely manner
    • Strong in their organizational, leadership and communication skills

    Core Functions

    Fabrication & Production

    • Utilize fabricating tools such as MIG & TIG welders, torches, grinders, clamps, and other tools
    • Interpret engineered drawings
    • Recommend modifications and improvements when applicable and maintain best weld practices
    • Repair and fabricate various items and equipment using cutting, burning, and welding techniques and equipment
    • Review Production Schedule Daily to ensure on time completion of all production part orders
    • Direct and execute labor according to schedule for on time delivery
    • Work closely with the Welding team, Maintenance/Machine Build team, Engineering and other departments as needed

    Leadership

    • Train, teach, and guide less experienced welders, in a cohesive, mentoring team environment
    • Encourage and support employee improvement, growth, and job satisfaction
    • Encourage employee innovation and new ideas
    • Develop and follow best practices of the Welding department work instructions

    Project Management

    • Assist with quoting projects as needed
    • Create and maintain project schedules and order supplies as required for the job
    • Work with the Project/Engineering team to create reasonable time and material cost goals
    • Review hours and costs with the Project/Engineering team weekly to ensure goals are being met
    • Work with in-house departments, vendors and customers as needed

    Quality and Administrative Responsibility

    • Perform all documentation and process requirements to comply with ISO:9001 quality standards
    • Review Inspection Logs daily for accuracy of documented data along with reaction to any change, issues, NCR’s or complaints recorded in the journal area
    • Ensure training for each operation is completed, documented, and maintained
    • Oversee system compliance within the department

    Key Performance Indicators

    • Scheduled projects and production operations completed on time and within budget
    • No delays or extra costs due to lack of supplies or inadequate planning ahead
    • Visual inspection shows area kept clean, organized and assets preserved per maintenance instructions
    • Depth of knowledge and keeping current on safety regulations and welding techniques and technology
    • Continued innovation seen in the department

    Minimum Job Requirements

    • 3 Years of experience in production welding and fabrication, formal training preferred, certifications are a plus
    • 2 Years of leadership experience
    • Robotic programming a plus
    • Broad knowledge of metallurgy
    • Essential leadership traits: confidentiality, integrity, effective communication, lead by example, critical thinking, accountability, and time management
    • Experienced in managing production schedules and timelines
    • Demonstrated organizational and trouble-shooting skills
    • Physical and visual acuity at a level to effectively perform duties
    • Ability to work well with all levels of Agritek personnel
    • Proven integrity and moral character
    • Proven mechanical inclination, general math and manufacturing knowledge, and trouble-shooting skills

    Typical Schedule: 45-50 hours/week avg with some off shift assistance as required by business needs

    Pay: Starting rate from $90-$100k per year plus benefits
